Anyone know how to put up PVC vinyl fence?
I decided to put up my own full 6' PVC vinyl fence after getting a couple $4300 estimates for labor and chain link fence. The problem is I have never put up PVC vinyl fencing before and although I have pulled up, cemented and replaced large sections of the wooden privacy fence at my old house I am a little wary of installing and entire fence system by myself.
I know there are little tricks of the trade that you need to know if order to save alot of work and heartache just as there is when working on cars. I would rather have some input and guidance from someone that knows these things rather than learning from my mistakes and messing shit up.
Anyone want to help me out? The new house is off of Peters Creek Parkway and Pope Rd.

Cajun,
I've never done PVC -= just wood and chain link, and you are right, each system has its quirks. Usually Lowes or Home Depot will have a guide to those sorts of projects, though - have you checked that out?

I know I need to pound stakes, run twine and make sure the posts are lined up. I guess my main concern is that I dont know the things that make the job easier and more efficient. I am sure there are methods for laying setting posts and ensuring exact spacing, but I dont know the best method. I am thinking i will cut a 2x4 the exact length of the fence section and use that to lay between each post for spacing.
There are just alot of questions I have about methodology and practice that I cant get answers to without having access to someone with first hand knowledge. Does that make sense?

My GF and I put ours up a few years ago. It cost us about 4,500 in materials. Probably would have cost us twice as much to have someone do it for us. One word of caution: Make sure you don't drill into your septic distribution block! It will cost around $450 to reoplace......ask me how I know. IMO looks better than wood and less maintnance. And if a tree falls on it, just pop out a panel and replace it. Another tip: DO rent a cement mixer. We had about 40 holes with two bags of cement/hole. Mixing it by hand is not fun....ask me how I know that one too.
Any other questions, fire away. I'll see if I can get a before and after of the front of the house. It's a pretty nice difference. Also feels a lot safer knowing people won't be peepin' and creepin' in your back yard.
