Default Anyone have a spare Catalytic Converter?

It appears that mine has decided that 79k is all it was ment to live. Of course, with a rollbar, brake ducts, etc installed, I think the dealer would laugh at me if I were to take it in, even though the cat may still be under warranty. Maybe they would at least give me a free car wash out of the trip, though...

Does anyone out there happen to be running a test pipe and have a cat sitting around that I could buy?

Sorry, Sheila and I are using ours.

Are you going to give the dealer a try anyway? All he can do is say no, and you're no worse off than you are right now.

Yeah, it's going to the dealership tomorrow morning, but I'm not expecting the outcome to be favorable. The dealership here is the one that I busted for joyriding my car and they just laughed it off. They're also the ones that told me not to open/close the top daily because doing that would wear it out too fast.

Just checked the EPA site - the federal warranty is 80k miles so you better drive straight to the dealership to get it covered!

http://www.epa.gov/obd/questions.htm

Will the repair be covered by warranty?
Warranty coverage varies depending on components and individual manufacturer warranty provisions. In most cases, however, responding sooner rather than later is likely to minimize the individual owner's repair liability. The CAA requires an 8-year or 80,000 mile warranty on the major emissions control components such as the catalytic converter, and a 2-year or 24,000 mile warranty on other emissions control components.

^^

I'm sure the dealer knows what he's talking about.
