I was taking a close look at one this morning and they need to paint the door handles. That ranks up their with the late model eclipses which have the gas cap of a different color.

I am not saying anything negative about the performance, etc. I personally think it is damn ugly and I learned to drive on a 260Z and then later got a 280Z.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Better yet, even to the non enthusiast/layperson, those "brushed" handles are an eyesore. Both my fiancee and partner at work repeatedly point out those handles as an "ugly" feature of the new Z. They're likely useless at their function too. How many of you read the C&D sidebar in this months issue complaining about how the handles opened without even the least of resistance when in a car wash!!

All said, the new Z is still a neat car. It's great to see some sharp styling, a robust, tried and tested V6 in a solid sports coupe, and most of all, a revival of a legendary nameplate. There are just far too many of them around though, and that is reason enough for me, to keep the S.

What for? It's in keeping with a few of the other "peculiarities" on that car. Maybe it was meant to distract you from some of the disproportionate styling elsewhere.

 

But for 30k, they did paint the mud flaps

 

I like the look of the handles.

 

It would be easy to get the paint off the door handles on your S2k if you really like the look

 

Hey! Now there's an idea. I can bring back the "Mr. T." look. 22 layers of good chains, shirt open to the navel, big rings on every finger, maybe even an ear ring or two.
If 350Z guys can do it, so can I.

 

I don't think it would look very good on the type of handles the S2k has.
