Well maybe I'm smoking some crack, but the "mouth" (grille opening) looks deeper, then there are the side skirts and I dig the 17" Modulo wheels too

I appear to be in the minority but I believe they are ruining the car on the basis of the lower readline / even power distribution.

I came close to buying a new Boxster S. One of the main reasons I didn't is because while it had decent torque (for it's class0, it did not having thrilling acceleration. It was very stable all the way through the power band. The fun of the S2000 is that at 6,000 RPMs, it is a HUGE VTEC kick which makes it feel like a turbo kicking it without forced induction!

It sounds like Honda is going to make a car that is easier to drive, more forgiving on the curves, and aimed more at the mainstream market than the sports car enthusiast.

I would have been thrilled if Honda added a V6 with 340hp VTEC engine or something like that but to up it to a 2.2 and keep the same HP is junk. Sure it has a higher maximum torque but I am not even sure if the car will be faster. More torque does not necessarily make a faster car.

It would not surprise me if they don't produce a lot more and even (GASP) add an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION to the car.

On the bright side, perhaps the 00-03 models will become collector editions

Read the article in the August Car and Driver. All the reasons the S won are going away.

Im also dissapointed about lowering the redline. That is one of the things that makes the car unique is that it can rev higher than any other. I think if you want the extra torque just get a 03 and add 4.44 final drive and you can keep the 9000k redline.
