Default 15,000 mile serivce...questions

hey guys,

well its time for me to get the 15k service done. Im taking hte car to Hendrick honda here in charlotte to get it completed. Ill also be providing them with Mobil 1 to use. However, im not exactly sure what they do in the 15k service. from what i was told they change the intake filter, oil filter, oil change and something to do with the differential. Can somone shed some more light and tell me what all they are to do for the 15k service? Also, they quoted me $142.00 since im bringing my own oil......does that seem right as well?

It's mostly inspection stuff. The 'big' items are an oil change and a rear diff gear oil change:

15,000mile Services to be performed:
Replace engine oil.
Replace engine oil and filter.
Inspect front and rear brakes.
Replace engine oil filter.
Check parking brake adjustment.
Inspect tie-rod ends, steering gearbox and rack boots.
Inspect suspension components.
Inspect driveshaft boots.
Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS).
Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids and check for leaks.
Inspect cooling system hoses and connections.
#Inspect exhaust system.
#Inspect fuel lines and connections.
# = See information on maintenance and emissions warranty, last column, page 153 of your owner's manual.

Check the torque on your drain and fill bolts when you get it back! There are too many reports of engine problems immediately following dealer fluid service.

gear oil = diff fluid -- I believe it's a 1L bottle
tranny fluid is a whole separate deal.

Tranny and diff fluid changes are not on honda's official service schedule... I changed my diff and tranny fluid (Mobil 1 75w90 & Neo Synthetic MTF) at about 12.5k. Consensus is that tranny and diff fluid changes should be done yearly, so 15-20k miles should be fine for most folks
