Well they claim 308hp with 395nms torque. I'll check with BSR about the S-Tronic box as well

That's an awful lot might just stay stock till I want more

I have an impending job change and the co owner is a petrol head (14 cars including an Enzo) so I reckon I could wangle an S3 5 door!
Did you do a review of it? Is there a thread?
$hit just realised I'm falling in to the car buying trap again!

If you were coming to Angelesey then I would tell you! It'll be hard to do a proper write up till it comes, also I'm going out on a limb with the auto box, well only a little as I know it's brilliant.

Here's what I got from the test drive.

It's compact so handy for driving round the town but the 5 door has much more room in the back than the 3 door or in fact the A4/Avant/S4/RS4 all of which I've driven and enjoyed but couldn't stop being annoyed by the stupid back seats. The boot is a decent size but no bigger than the 3 door. There's basically 8 inches of length added on in the back seats, overall from a space point of view it really does seem to fit more than the S4.

Interior is standard VAG, nothing exciting but good quality although the S3 does get a half alcantara as standard and you need to pay for full leather. No matter coz the alantara option is nice and you get 3 colours . You do now get the flat bottomed multi function wheel as standard which is a nice touch but has no benefit the current standard wheel is good enough.

Driving position relative to the otherA3s is nice, for once didn't feel too far away from the steering wheel with my feet on the pedals this time. The gearstick IS too far away though but as we all know that's wholly unfair due to the nature of the S2000s wonderful gearbox. As I've specced Auto it's irrelevant.

Ride is good, I was expecting hard but it's compliant enough to be comfy on the long drives and stiff enough to soak up some twisties, again it's unfair going from my S2k to any other car when it comes to handling but I definitely giggled like a child though, quite enjoyed the little pssshht noise when the wastegate opened too it's childish I know! Didn't roll as much as I was expecting.

Loads and loads of torque, like a turbo diesel but smooth and the power to back it up, the only problem I can forsee is that the car does want to rev all the time and it'll take me a while to get used to the extra oomph that I'm not used to.

No turbo lag that I noticed and it'll be even better with the auto box as if I'm not paying attention it'll just pick a gear close to the one I want .

If you've driven an R32 it's very similar only it feels a bit more spritely and alot less civilised. I liked it so I put in an order for one in blue.

Thanks for the predelivery review
I to hate the seats in the A4's and want something quick, nippy and good for throwing loads in the back. R32 falls down on the last count!

John, I thought you were a law enforcement officer. Why would you wish to remap a car to such high levels on our speed restricted road system?
