Jamie, I'm looking forward to seeing how your 996 compares to my Z4M in a straight line if we get the chance?

I'd be happy to be involved with that comparison

Rolling start from say, 20mph in 2nd gear.

Need to eliminate driver skill; or lack thereof

I must be one of the few people who traded down (due to wanting to free up some capital).

I needed something economical and practical, so I bought a 3.0 V6 Alfa Romeo GTV No posing photos as I haven't polished it yet

While the S2000 was better in most respects, the Alfa has a few good points, chief of which is the largish V6 engine. Quite like the pimp red interior as well.

The next car will most likely be a oil burner - perhaps an Alfa GT, or BMW.

Prob similiar actually, my tyres are on there way out and it may be slippery, I would prefer dry as the weight on the back wheels from the engine gives me lots of grip but lets do it. How though ?

yours is quicker.

make model year power weight bhp/ton 0.6 0.100 60-100 1/4 mile term speed

BMW Z4 M Coupe 6 338 1424 241.17 4.75 10.96 6.21 13.01 108.94
Porsche 911 (996) 3 300 1320 230.92 4.91 11.67 6.76 13.21 106.38
Probably equal in a straight run, traction would be an issue for me.

The numbers you posted are some of the quickest I've seen for the Z4M Coupe , and some of the slowest for the 996 btw.

Nothing in it in the real world I bet.
