When this thread first appeared I had sold my first S2000 and bought a TVR Griffith 500.

Now after having had the Griffith for 2 years it has been sold and I have returned to another S2000!

Why ? Was the TVR unreliable ? No !

I needed some money for the home and it had to go. I really miss it but found it wasn't feasible to use it everyday in SW London. All the speed humps and no garage to keep the Griffith lovingly clean mean I was not using it the way I should.

It cost me quite a bit to keep it - but that was mainly just to keep a 6 year old car in top mint condition. It never broke down and in 2 years had 2 cooling system issues which were cured quite easily.

I don't think they are Ok as a car for everyday use - at least not where I live. Would I have another if I had the money ..... yes, and I would even try to buy my old one back !

Would I have a speed six TVR - yes, at the right price with a warranty and/or evidence of an engine rebuild. Alot of reading is needed before taking the plunge with this engine. I personally know of no one who has had any issues but IMO believe the general consensus is that TVR were given an engine design that was OK .... problem was they then looked how to save a bit on parts .... which has possibly caused the issues today. I think the later ones are much better and any that have had a rebuild more recently should be OK.

The cars in earlier Chim/Griff guise, Cerbera or later Tamora/T350/Tuscan are all stunningly good looking and extremely quick cars which should bring a smile to anyones face - just possibly not as an only car though

There's a buyers guide for the T350 in this month's Evo magazine.

They seem to think that the speed 6 engine problems were largely cured by the later models.

The Evo guide isn't bad actually, if a little limited, but the amount of knowledge you can pick up on Pistonheads is amazing!

The Speed six fixes have been honed and honed where very few now go pop. If they do it's usually due to misuse or poor maintenance!
