and what is the lesser model?
the one driven by the local bowls team? I can't see many wannabe's opting for those, the current gen civic was never estined to have a Type R model. polishing a turd just makes a mess.
Honda have lost their way in a big way and it's been coming for years.
Just to reiterate, I am sure it will be hugely capable and will take the Ring fastest lap, but I can't imagine I'll see many on the road. Which is a shme when you consider the success of previous models. But they were not 30k

The ordinary Civic has disastrous lines, its busy, its all over the place. And a mahoosive fat elongated ass. BY far, the ugliest hatch i've seen since the.. the..Maestro or something!
I still say - sack the designers. Completely out of touch with its heritage and more in tune with trilby wearing coffin dodgers. Just when you thought Honda's couldn't get any worse.
It will no doubt, be an absolute treat to see what the supposed new S2000 will look like - if it ever surfaces. Then again - they're busy wasting millions in F1 right now. When its petrol head fans await to be treated to a beautiful drivers car.

Oh yes, I agree re sector. The sector that aspire to those may have less cash but who knows. I mean that people do pay cash. You said 'who walks into a showroom and puts 30k cash down', I am saying I did that thrice last year so people do it; admittedly not showrooms, one was.

back to the R, apparently 98+ ron fuel only, someone on the forum had a reply from VW saying anything less may invalidate warranty?
I've not checked, but the manual suggests 95 is ok.
I've whacked 98 in it anyway (well tesco 99), always found the S achieved higher mpg on 98, the odd ocassion I splashed some 95 in there it was noticeable.

I have nothing against France, amazing country, but all the french cars i have experienced have been pretty shat
and no, i dont yearn for a 205 gti
EDIT - i came on here to post this
Mclaren 570s £995pm with £39,500 down and optional balloon of £90,248 according to Auto Express. ha ha
i want to like the Renno but we looked at these a couple of years back and again, build quality wasnt up to it imo
anyway back OT, BMW, Merc and VW must have a masterplan and Honda et al arent buying it given the disparity i'll keep admitting the Golf is a no brainer

that thought crossed my mind but would they keep churning out the cars for this long? i would expect short availability of great deals on that basis unless they build fields full of cars
they made 3.3bn euros in the first quarter so are doing something right
