In a lot of cases they're only really safe at speed because you're unlikely to meet someone coming the other way. But as has been said the police aren't going to waste money and effort enforcing limits on those roads by traditional means.
I'm suprised we haven't progressed to the black boxes in all new cars approach by now.

Otherwise they would be using them backwards already, to catch the bikers.
With regard to hard work, I am refering to when the police managed to track down a repeat offender who was caught several times on the same (front facing) camera.
I believe they caught him in the end because he used different bikes and they tracked him down through the sales.
Very cleverly IMO. And he got what he deserved.

This is so stupid - I really would like to know how the accidents break down; what percentage of drivers were exceeding the speed limit, what percentage were doin something stupid (pulling out in front of traffic, o/t ona blind corner) etc.
There are already a few NSL's around here which have been dropped to 50 (no idea why) and it's irritating - you can't overtake someone doing 40 legally, and most of the f*wits around here do seem to do between 30-40mph everywhere

They are-sometimes under the stealth of noise reduction ( I understand this is an avenue the council can use to reduce speeds).
The Carrington Spur (a link road to join the M60) is a good example. It has been dropped from NSL to 50 max. Absolutely no need for it except apossibly at the beginning/end where there are traffic lights and a r'about.
