Short trackday/car experience for me and my father
I am going to do a short trackday/car experience day with my father as part of his birthday present in july/august.
Anybody any suggestions which company to go with prices/tracks/etc?
Track must be up 'narf' though
I think I'd rather blitz somebody else's car before i take my S on the track.
Cheers

http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/ they often do half days or evening only sessions including Novice biased days
They do Oulton, Cadwell and Snetterton in the general Northish direction
I did my first track day at Bedford with them and they ran a good day there.
No reason to not take your car, you do not need to drive on the limit first time out, in fact my first track day was in the Cayman and with no track insurance. If the event is run properly you should not have any reason to get into an accident with anyone else.

I wouldn't consider any of those tracks to be in the North
Oulton and Cadwell though are fairly close and are what I'd consider 'Up't Narrrrff'
Oulton is superb but as a first blast perhaps not recommended unless you are steady and the conditions are dry; Cadwell is the mini Nordy and I wouldn't recommend this either as a first go tbh, again, unless you are steady and careful.
If you want to give it big licks I'd suggest an airfield or ex-airfield; Elvington/Croft; both are somewhat more forgiving to mistakes than Oulton or Cadders which will punish you if you get it wrong in the wrong place.
Using a hired car such as a BaT mobile is a good idea but bear in mind that the excess would be painful if you stuff it so even though it's insured and isn't yours you'd still want to hold back from on-the-limit jollies perhaps.
