Default Service/Warranty Question

My Z4 Coupe will be three years old on March 29th.

It's currently telling me it will be 1050 miles until the next service is due which is the Inspection I service.

This will be the first service I'll have had to get done since I got the car last March (2009).

I'm planning to go to a recommended BMW Independent garage near Ibrox here in Glasgow for the service and if anything needs done under warranty they can tell me and I can then go to a BMW dealer to get that organised.

Is it okay to take the car in a good bit before the 1050 miles are up so that I can get it serviced and still have time under the one month remaining warranty to get it looked at?

All they do at the service is reset the indicator to the next service, so getting it done early will not harm the car. In fact it's probably a slight benefit, on balance.

And it's entirely up to you how you treat the warranty, it warrants work on the car until the final day of the warranty period so you'll be fine on that score.

Billy ... sounds like the Merc & BMW independent I took my Merc to. Ibrox Business Park?

Dave O'Niell* who runs it seems a decent guy ...

* That's what his business card says. Can't believe it's right ...

Exactly right. They literally just reset the counter.
