selling a car and removing cherished plate?
My Scoob has a cherished registration on it. As far as I'm aware I have to take it to my local DVLA offive with the MOT, tax disc, V5C and completed V778/1. This means I can put the old reg on straight away. They then send the V5C off to Swansea.
What happens if I want to sell the car within the 4 weeks of waiting for the new V5C? There must be something I can do!?
Please help!!!

Come to an arrangement with the new buyer - thats all you can do. the DVLA will not like it very much. Any arrangements get them down in paper and both sign it - it is a leap of faith though and I would wait. might not take 4 weeks - mine only took 2.

I sold my S to a dealer, and it had a private plate on it. Due to the timescales I didn't have time to sort it all out before giving themthe S and picking up the Scoob.
So I went to DVLA, sent off the paperwork, sold the car (complete with plates). When the paperwork had come through I took it to the dealer. So in theory I owned both cars as the V5's etc. were in my name. I had to take the receipt from the DVLA to the dealer when I sold them the S though.
I wouldn't do this with a private buyer.
