Default A second car to compliment the s2000

Hello guys,

Love my s2000. However, could do with a car with a bit more functionality on a daily basis, the main reason would be to carry 2x mountain bikes around, but also to keep a few miles off the s2000, and offer a bit of a comfier ride over distance.

Do you guys have any ideas/feedback of how I should achieve this? I have put the following on a spread sheet

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

Basically, I am considering a VW Passat Estate 1.9 TDI - There are plenty about, you can pick an alright one up for £1000, and they are cheap to repair/maintain. This would leave me with the s2000 and my classic BMW as weekend toys.

Other options would be chopping the s2000 in, and just getting a tidy 3-series estate, one of the more powerful models. (330i as main choice) - but still think this will be too "boring".

Anybody else done similar? cheap more functional 2nd car & s2k (or other sports car). I can do around £4k/year (£333/mo)

I bought an M3 as practical wheels

The S2 is much more raw, especially hood down at 9k rpm with the HKS and induction kit. Totally different drive really

Old cars like the pisshat you mention are disposable at that price so i would try one and see how you go?

If that has a good history, you can't go wrong. They are utility in the extreme. I notice it's a 140, I had one of them in that shape and sold it for a new shape one. Done hundreds of thousands of miles all over Europe in passats.

Have the current shape now and would likely keep it for good if I didn't fancy something faster. Had it for 5 faultless years from new.

Ps, that looks like a highline (I had one). Is it leather /heated/etc? If so they are a nice place to be.

Hi cheshire, yes 130 PD highline model. 1 owner, FSH, new turbo, new tyres, etc. The heated leather is really nice. Feels quite high quality too.

Not bad for £1650!

They are crackers. I expect that car has lunar mileage.
