Default Scamera Vans

Mrs Rteyp has just come in and told me she drove past one at 38ish in a 30 in Hertford Heath

Its the 2nd time in 2 months she's done this and its really p***ing me off. Why can't she slow down, I even go to the local website and tell her where the barstewards are going to be. Apparently this one was semi covered in the undergrowth..... so she says.

Do the radar dectors spot these ? I suppose the GPS ones are no good - unless they have frequent mobile sites programmed in ?

What do you recommend - apart from stopping her driving ?

Talivans are usually laser-armed so radar detectors won't help you. There really isn't much you can do about them - by the time a laser detector goes off, you've almost certainly already been nabbed. (There's more chance of a bit of warning on motorways)

Some GPS detectors have a list of know sites used by mobile cameras - depends on what model you have. I know the B2, which I have, has a list of sites used by the DS2 mobile cameras, but these tend to be ones that are plugged into hardpoints in lay-bys rather than the camera-in-a-van.

What do I recommend? Telling her to get a pair of glasses or keep her -ing eyes open and pay attention!

For the Tom Tom you can get a database of all the fixed camera sites and a lot of the mobile sites too. A bit annoying getting all the reports for mobile sites as there are so bloody many of them, but better then loosing your license IMO.

You need to expllain to her the consequences of a ban in a way that she will understand.

i.e.

1. A ban will mean a court appearance for her and a few hundred pounds fine.

2. A ban will cost *her* a few hundred pounds extra a year for insurance.

3. During the ban she will be unable to go shopping at the Galleria.

(I know the 3rd one would be the clincher for my wife )

Too right ! I think she's got the message this morning, so much so that I'm now getting earache, women have a nack of turning things round - what have I done wrong other then tell her the consequences - ooh I'm being a nag

Anyway she will now be off the S2k insurance, she was bringing the cost down but now she will pump it up.

Thanks guys.

Did you here the story about the 4 lads from Birmingham?

2 of them went to the back of the van and kept the copper talking, asking questions about the equipment while the other 2 took off the front number plate

They then put it on a Transit van and kept going round the block flying past mr scamera van at high speed...

this meant the van was flat out bookin itself!!!
