Boxster S/Cayman S 3.4 should be available from OPC for around the same price.
In US was recently reported as most reliable car.
Dealers now offer 2 year warranty as standard on s/h cars and servicing might not be as expensive as you think - 2 year gap, no intermediate.
(I change the oil myself 1/2 way as I feel 2 years is too long).
Latest 2.9/3.4 is a new engine with lower emissions/road tax and better mpg to go with it. 988 due later this year could be negotiating point.
Very complete package, worth a test drive to compare.
I don't give a feck what the Porsche knockers say, it's the best car I've owned to date

I'll vouch for that!

It's an ok car, not slow, handles well and solid if looked after. I've done 10k in mine in just over a year.

But it's not a car I loved like the S2000 and 111R before it and "ok" is not enough when you consider the fuel consumption of 13mpg!

You can have mine if you want - paid £6,250 for it last Christmas and will probably get no more than £2k for it now in px.

I'm looking for my next car at the moment.... 350z!

Having used the RX-8s rear seats once in 14 months I have successfully proved to the Mrs that a family man and 2 seater sports cars are not mutually exclusive!

what stereo option did it have? the one with screen built into the dash is the high end system, not sure it adds money but its easier to shift later as a lot of people want it.
11k miles is low for a 56 plate
what color?
It had the stereo bulit into the dash and built in sat nav. Spec says it has the BMW proffesional stereo system.

Not that i'm bothered by the satnav.

Link to car is here:

Nice car, but overpriced at the moment.

Good grief, that's depressing. Makes my S2000 worth about a bag of crisps as and when I trade it in
'Fraid so.

Hi Nick,

Long time since you've been here!

Irony of it is i'm changing the S to get something with a passenger airbag that i can turn off.

You can't turn off the airbag on the car i'm looking at. However, there is an offical BMW mod that disables it.

RX-8 - 13MPG! Yes that is possible, but you don't have to drive it like that! My dad has one and he can get a reasonable MPG out of it (if he wants to.)

The Z4 coupe looks great and you don't see many on the road. It looks a lot better than the soft top option.

Z4M engine

Z4M Gearbox

I sold my Z4M Roadster after only 8 months due to the gearbox .... notchy beyond belief - though great when thrashing it. Try and drive gently and it doesn't want to do 'smooth' in any way shape or form ! People talk about the clutch delay valve and having it removed but I just think the gearbox is not a great one for doing smooth.

I drove three and they were all like it. I thought I would get used to it but didn't. Great engine though ... totally effortless power and just the right amount of noise
