S2000 replacement suggestions

Do you still want it to be a softtop?
Personally, that'd be quite high on my list of requirements for replacement car.
BMW 3 cabrio for RWD, although you could possibly get an older Audi A4 Quatro cabrio for the same money.
The A4 has quite a decent boot on it but a canvas roof. I believe the collapsible hard top BMW3 has a much smaller boot space with the roof up or down.

I'm not fussed about it being a convertible.
Lexus might be an option.
RX8 is too fuel hungry and depreciates just too fast.
5 series feels too grown up

despite what the figures might suggest or a dealer will tell you
if you don't believe me, test one brimmed and fill up after 50 miles
there is no reason for having one over an M3 apart from being different
they are an inferior drive

I was going to suggest you try an Impreza, I was very pleasantly surprised by mine but you said not too chavvy so that's out, as is an Evo.
BMW is a bit of a dull option, it's not like they're rare on the roads.
A 911 would be fun and for £25k there's a fair selection of 996s about and you'd just about squeeze a 997 in. Non-dealer prices aren't so eye-watering but it's worth finding if there's one close to you as from experience withthe Lotus, if the specialist is a long way off and you need work doing, you end up using the dealer anyway.
Same thing with a Jag XK - specialist care isn't too expensive and they're a nice place to be, if a little 'old man'.
Then there's always something more leftfield - http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2396100.htm
Otherwise it really does look like a 'hot' version of a rep-mobile....

Oh yes, the budget.
£25k.
and it needs to be a good road car. I'm not worried about track performance as i'm either going the caterham or elise nail route for track thrills.
Its needs to be presentable too. Something that isn't going to make me look a plonker infront of my staff the work car park. ie nothing chavvy.
and i'm way too young to drive a merecedes.
Hence why i feel really blinkered into looking at a 3 series coupe or m3.

Or as was mentioned before, keep the S and use a forward facing seat - LoweW will be big soon. HaleC was in a forward facing seat by 6 months, maybe earlier.
