Oh yes, the budget.

£25k.

and it needs to be a good road car. I'm not worried about track performance as i'm either going the caterham or elise nail route for track thrills.

Its needs to be presentable too. Something that isn't going to make me look a plonker infront of my staff the work car park. ie nothing chavvy.

and i'm way too young to drive a merecedes.

Hence why i feel really blinkered into looking at a 3 series coupe or m3.

I have both - saloon and coupe.
And I don't agree.
Stock there is no noticable difference.
But for some reason the coupe just feels much larger in comparison.

The coupe is better with small kids, you can easily climb right in out of the rain.
Unless you have a bad back or are fat.

Never found much I liked the look of when applying similar requirements.
Diesels are pokey when mapped, but the drive and sound is just not as pleasant as a petrol, and no manual box is available.

I would still like to try the VXR8 actually, and I guess the internet is down in S.Wales tonight

A pal has an older S4, tuned, and that is steady.
The RS4 of course does it all very well, but will be out of budget I suspect.

VXR (Monaro) is a lot of car for the money.

If you do go BMW, don't go M if you want to keep running costs down.

RX-8?

LExus IS-F's can be had for circa £27k, the 5.0 V8 one. Don't know what running costs are like though.

Lexus GS?

530i or 535d
