Let's see whether it actually gets used or not.
I give it 3 months tops before someone challenges this after they've had their car crushed on the basis that it infringes their "human rights"

There was a knob on the news (last week I think) who'd been caught driving without tax and insurance. When asked if he'd do the same again, stood on the steps of the court, he replied "Well, I've got to drive for my job, so yeah."
I can't see it stopping morons who think like that and can't see they're doing something obviously wrong.

I think it should be an automatic policy. I had typed stuff about an appeal process too, but I've deleted it as there is no excuse for not driving with tax/insurance, not even the usual "I was on my way to buy it" - get the bus!
There is currently very little deterrant for this sort of crime, and the courts need to make use of the new powers they've been granted. It also needs to be highly publicised in the media (let's say The Sun, ITV News, or Newsround) when they are used to let the chavs know what the penalty is.

Gives police immediate power to confiscate and crush vehicles of those caught without tax or insurance.
Awesome.
Awesome.
It was great to see the reactions of the people whose cars were towed away to be crushed, as they were expecting a bit of a fine and a telling off. Up to now they were not hurt enough by their offence.
The funniest thing is that they still have to pay too and get points on their licence.
I like the fact that they have 14 days to claim their car with all the documents but it costs

Not having seen the programme, I'm a bit confused by this.
Shouldn't it be they can crush a car if it does not have insurance or an MoT? After all an MoT cert indicates the cars road legal, and is far more important than having paid
