Default pretty good driving

I drove 950 miles this week/last week to France & back. Mainly m/way (M6/M42/M40/M25/A3 via Gatwick-A29 IIRC in France).

I was pretty surprised at how courteous people were being on the road Most people were keeping to the left, overtaking and pulling back in.

It was actually a reasonably pleasant drive.

Very very few people were doing > a tonne, even on the M40/M6 toll. Every other time I have been on these roads there are maybe 10-15% of cars driving >95 ish.

I wasn't particularly rushing (very unusual for me ).

Has the current recession slowed people down, changed peoples attitude?

Okay that's really strange.
I did a shortish hop from Reading to Swindon along the M4 mid morning today, and the return leg mid afternoon.

I only had one tit in a lorry cut me up, but everyone else was very well behavioured. I have never had such a laid back motorway drive like the one I had today

Maybe it' more to do with the kids being off school, and less people being on the roads and going to work clogging up the roads

850 miles this week and still plenty of idiots as far as I could see.

I reckon you were either in a forgiving mood or you just got lucky.........

Drove back from Rouen of Tuesday & as soon as we got back across the channel & hit the A2 the change was obvious. Same old same old with the retards in this country. M1/M6 with the middle & inside lanes clear but the outside lane rammed with the mongs 10ft off each others bumper.

Idiots.

Its just you chilling out in your old age Nige.

The roads seem to be quieter at the moment generally. Presumably because its school holidays so all the parents have taken their kids away.

So following that logic, parents must be less courteous drivers

Not difference on the last 6 weeks @2000 miles
Other than "weekend/holiday" drivers in the week

I once drove from Worcester to Taunton down the M5 between 5pm and 7pm mid week and only saw about 20 cars on the road. I haven't got a clue why it was so quiet! It was the most relaxing drive I've ever had.
Although I was getting a bit paranoid that everyone else knew something I didn't!

I must have been on mogadon at the time.

Maybe it really was because I was taking it easy that my perception of other road users changed?

Do most people here drive fast the majority of the time? I do although having a little one is changing that. My god it's boring though.
