It's not a Porsche - it's the creation of 9ff, a German tuning house well-known for creating mad cars based (to a greater or lesser extent) on the 911.
From what I gather, the GT9 doesn't retain a great deal in common with any of the 911s, other than part of the bodyshell.

It still looks like a squashed beetle, but even more so
There's a full article in this months Evo, they tried to break the Veyrons VMAX record at brunters but ran out of road and brave pills

It's quite a good article in Evo actually - those 9ff don't do anything lightly so I'd image we'll get a report later in the year of a 260mph Porsche!
Maybe my lack of technical / mechanical expertise doesn't allow me to read an article on a car that I will never own or wish to own.
I really don't know who these cars will appeal to either. There is no denying the ability but surely all that cost, lack of market presence and stealing other manufacturers parts will limit their sales
It is like the American company that puts a new skin on a BMW 6 series and the Mercedes SL500, I've forgotten what their names are - just who buys them?

Fisker.
Heinrich Fisker designed Astons and his version is FAR more 6er than Bungle's abortion, so that's reason enough.
But these Ruf-style Porsches generally appeal to those with more money than taste. It's a growing market.

It's easy to bundle all the modifying companies into one basket, however they are developing a strong reputation (in some circles admittedly) that their creations are pretty special.
The GT9 is their first attempt at building a car pretty much from the ground-up as a challenge to Porsche's own GT. Nothing wrong with that in my book!
