The sort of person that buys that car, is not a real petrolhead. But has oodles of money. So there's a big market for that, especially in the USA where I reckon it will be very popular. Its not hideous, its just not ready for our market and is kinda weird.

Okay changed my mind. Drove a gts targa. Felt unbelievably heavy and really inert. Felt rather like a fast audi.

Very disappointed.

Also drive a 991 gts that I've been hankering after. Brilliant car but not worth the premium over the cayman GTS

Upon reflection, perhaps the new Porsche Targa is being very true to its roots.

IIRC the original Targa roof was developed by Porsche as sort of air brake for the Targa Florio - the new Porsche Targa roof would provide incredible braking assistance if opened at speed...

I love the styling of the new Targa. Just such a damn shame (even criminal!) they don't offer it in 2wd guise.
