[QUOTE=Bundle of Mayhem,Jul 28 2009, 12:44 PM] How difficult is it to stick a bloody big sticker on the fuel cap telling them what fuel to put in the car?

Why are the police putting fuel in their cars? They should be out catching criminals! Surely with fleets a big as they have they shoud be able employ someone who knows his fuel types apart to refuel the cars before each shift?
Even if they couldn't get back to a central refuelling point it would be cheaper to employ a man in fuel tanker to go round topping up cars!

I'll do it for

i used to be a copper a long time ago for the met.

you wouldn't believe the amount of time the cars spend off the road. during my time it was mainly blown turbos on the bmw 530d's, and wrong fuel in the astras.

in my borough each car was give a BP fuel card and just filled up whenever needed by whoever was driving it.

i can well believe the figures as wrong fuel fillups seemed to happen regularly. one car would come back from being flushed and another would get filled up with the wrong fuel.

It's the same for the ambulance service. When you open the cap to refuel it even tells you to use diesel but people still get it wrong

People don't pay attention driving, so why would they pay attention putting fuel in the car?

Mind you, people think that mobile phones will cause you to blow up in a petrol station.

Doesn't happen too much now in the Met .... though yes, it used to !

I think people have finally got used to the fact that many cars are diesel - and police officers realise how stupid they look sitting with their wrongly fueled car waiting for recovery ....
