Nurburgring Insurance?

Nurburgring Insurance?
Planning our trip to the Ring in April and got talking about insurance last night.
Used Ben Lovejoys Nurburgring guide which has been invaluable and on there are 4/5 links to specialist insurance companies who offer Ring cover.
Every single one of these insurers has a note to say 'unfortunately for the Nurburgring we cannot offer third party liability cover' now call me simple (don't actually I am quite sensitive!!lol) but if they don't offer third party then what an earth are they covering you for?!?!?
Any help or advice from seasoned ringers would be most grateful.

They'll cover you for damage to your own car, but won't cover costs if you damage anyone else's property (including the barriers etc).

Yep. You're basically screwed. Your own insurer doesn't have to insure you anymore, and these third party providers people get fooled into buying only cover you, as LG says. Damaging your own car is not the nightmare scenario; it's causing an accident that writes off half a dozen GT3s and a Ferrari or two, and causes a ring closure, the helicopter to be called, and lots of damaged armco.
And unlike a trackday, where everybody is there at their own risk, because it's a public road die Polizei will investigate and want to pin the blame and the financial liability on the driver that caused it.
Best not to crash.

Good shout, what a waste dishing out around £300 or something which doesn't really cover what you want it to!!
Thanks for te advice guys, I didn't consider insurance until we were chatting last night. To be fair funds and a fairly seinsible head on my shoulders, I only want to do 2/3 laps to say I did it. With all the speculation surrounding it's future I want to get there and go round once at least!!
Nk budding racing driver or trackday nut, just enjoy my cars and driving.

For 70 euros you can get a week's worth of temporary german car insurance and registration plates, is what a lot of them use when they buy cars overhere and export them to their own country. For what I know on normal car insurance on the continent the ring is included cos it's just a public road.
Not sure how it would work with your own registration though but it might be worth looking into.

It's worth a read, and the "rent a car" comment is probably the most relevant if you are very worried about things.

Just read all that thread on PH - but doom and gloom really?!? But despite the grim reaper warnings thousands of people visit every year.
Think I will get over there first then make a decision on driving it.
On a side note is there anything on the way over worth having a look at or a little detour for?? We have allowed a day to travel over so no rush, just wondered if anyone could recommend anything on route worth a look.

Oh and get practising on the Xbox. Forza 4 is so realistic. Wish i'd done this as it took a good 10 laps to learn

It's pretty much too risky to drive a UK car on normal tourist days.
You take out a CEO driving a GT3 who then can't work for 6 months, then you are looking at a bill that includes his lost earnings, repairing his car, track closure, track repair and recovery. Your liability is pretty much unlimited, and could run into 6 figures.
Hire a car. There's everything from the cheap, cheerful and fun Swifts from Rent-4-ring, RSR's alfas and rent-racecar's golfs all the way through to GT3 Cup cars and your liability is limited to the excess on the hire policy. Even if you take out someone else in the above situation.
You'll also have more fun in a hire car, because it's a hire car.
If you REALLY want to take your own car, do a track day, you get to do the full dottinger-hohe straight, unlimited laps, and more important, no third party liability. You still have to pay for barriers if you hit them, but that's an acceptable risk.
