Agreed, he would get a top CTR with that budget.

IMO get one with AC as a lot of them come without it and makes a difference come sale time.

EK-9 Type R if he can find one - it should be a pristine one at that price.

Yes that should get you a pristine EK-9 but a TEG will hold its value better as its a better car.

However the EK9 is definitely a moder modern car (in terms of everyday driving).

Don't forget that the Teg will be Jap import only which can/will bump the insurance up a bit more. If it was me I think I'd go with the Teg as well, as it's a bit more interesting than a CTR.

On a side note, fair play to your son for changing is mind and not wanting to get into debt

Check out here.... http://www.civictype-r.co.uk/

my neighbour bought a lovely one quite recently from a member of the owners club.

Same as here, people know people and therefore can verify the cars for sale.

get a late DC2 ITR, still probably the best car i have ever owned. Had from 21-23 and was a hoot.

Used to carry bikes etc in that, MASSIVE boot and much better drive than the CTR for that money.

£6k will secure a mint car and can spend the rest on track days enjoying it!

Thats what i did and would live those years again any day.

As others have said he should be able to get a decent enough EP3 fpr that money. Look for AC and front fogs if possible or maybe a Premiere edition which has Recaro front seats and tinted rear windows.

Type R Owners forum is a good place to get some more info about what is available for the money. In fact there is a great example of a Premiere here up for just over 8k (you may have to register to see it, sorry) Type R premiere
