Default Nissan Skyline R33 GTR V Spec

I am considering getting something with a little more room than the S. (bigger boot, back seats.) Was looking to keep good handling and performance but want to also keep the rarity factor a little. Looked at the obvious M3, S4 route but they don't float my boat too much. M3 maybe but it still just looks like a normal Bee Em. Looked at the 911 and NSX route but price is outta my league.

I had discounted a Nissan Skyline R33 GTR but I saw one today and thought it looked great. It has back seats, better boot, handles great (from what the experts say) and also has the ooomph to boot.

I just want to ask you guy what you think of them? What's the pros and cons? Advice/comments welcome.

Thanks in advance.

My mate had a GTS-t running 18" and it was a true money pit!

I went through similar things recently and similar car choices.
Did a real leftfield thing and bought the R26.

Wouldn't swap it out for the world, it does it all for me anyhow.

I've had the odd sneaky thought about an R34 GTR too. There's a guy who owns a wheels and exhausts shop who has one with blinged up wheels around here that's put me off a bit though.

R33's are common and not as light as the R32 and not as good as the R34.

For me the R33 is the one I'd not have out of the RB26'ed GTR's.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies.

I know the biggest problem is finding a clean one that hasn't been modded to death. I'd love an R34 GTR but like a good 911 the price is a little outta my league.

I presume the R26 is the Renault Megane R26R. What about the reliability of them? Not sure if they have the rarity/exclusivity club I'm after. It's FWD, has no radio, no back seats and a Megane. I know it's super fast around the Ring but... thanks anyway.

I've read too about the R32 GTR being lighter, but I guess they are harder to find in good condition. I would like a car to have a few bolt on breathing mods added and maybe nice wheels etc but nothing too much.

I've always wondered too about an Evo. Oil has to be changed every 3000 miles? Would it be like trying to own a supercar (cost wise)?

I've thought about RX-7's and RX-8's too but again engines need rebuilding every 50000 miles I've read. Fairly offputting.

Any one have any other idea's comment?

RX-8s are brilliant. My friend has had one from new and is on 64K miles. He does alot travelling for work and so far has had only one problem which was a failed sensor or something, can't remember exactly. The only thing he moans about is passengers in the back with dirty feet all over the front seats. Doesn't appear to be much room in the back, which you can tell from the cars exterior.
