Yaris added to short-list.

Not looking forward to Saturday. The Old Dear, car salesmen and test drives could result in a 'Falling Down' scenario...

a wild thought - is there a small battery-powered car available?

i dont know why, but im guessing she doesnt do many miles, and presumably all/mostly city driving and used for a shopping trolley.

Alas it's rural driving - she lives some 20 or so miles from NCL in Northumberland and it's a 12 mile minimum journey to the nearest town. Public transport of course is not an option.

The battery powered Smart FourTwo would have the range, but it isn't available to Joe Public and the Mitsubishi i-EV is not yet launched.

Taxis would be the sensible choice as one could pay for a fair few for the capital cost and running costs of a car in a year, but it's a psychological issue of independence.

Battery power is so 1890s.

I'd recommend Daewoo/Kia/Hyundai/Daihatsu/Suzuki.

All embarrassments, but the owners seem to like them.

Yaris - my Aunt and Uncle rate the one they've got.

Yaris, Aygo or Swift. I really like the sound of the 3 cylinder in the Aygo

Suzuki Liana: 'a reasonably priced car' ?

Then you can call round Sundays to watch the latest Top Gear together

In case she asks, Liana apparently is an acronym name standing for 'Life In A New Age' - so is really appropriate

It's looking more and more like an Aygo.

Never been driven or looked at in the flesh, but Mum's priorities are clear 'The Aygo looks nice in blue'...
