New Car for the Old Dear
My Old Dear is in the market to change her '04 Jazz SE Sport CVT. The sensible thing to do would be to keep the Jazz as it's in great condition and has only 24K miles on it...
The desired replacement has to be smaller and must be an automatic - I'm looking at the following cars, but if I've missed a sensible alternative to consider, I'd welcome suggestions.
- Toyota Aygo MMT
- Fiat Panda 1.2 Dual-Logic
- Mitsubishi i
- Smart FourTwo Passion
My French car prejudice rules out a C1 or a 107...

Aygo is indeed a C1/106 clone, but I suspect the QC Toyota employ may be better - the dealers will be for sure. It doesn't get much praise by most of the motoring press and is considered pretty noisy.
The Fiat 500 isn't available in the dual-logic thingamabob alas and the VW Fox isn't available as an auto either. Odd considering they're touted as urban type cars.
The Auris is a nice car but it's larger than the Jazz so that's been ruled-out by the Old Dear.
I've just been having a look at What Car? and the Daihatsu Sirion seems to get the thumbs-up. Dull as dishwater, but fit-for-purpose and all that.
I have a mate who has a huge fleet of courtesy cars and his tip is the Kia Picante. Out of all the stuff he runs - including Fiats, Nissans, VWs etc etc - these are the least trouble. Might be one to open-minded about - if not to be seen in.
