Nearly Cars
#41
The 'nearly' cars fulfil the needs of the sort of people for whom second best is good enough. In general though, I agree with Moff's sentiments.
Regarding body kits and perceived aftermarket 'upgrades' to base models: If someone sees fit to add a bodykit and mismatched alloys to their Toyota Previa (as I noticed in Croydon the other day!) then IMO it makes the world a better place - It at least made me smile.
LOL @ Gaz's banana analogy

I also saw, in Tesco's car park, the other week a Hynudai Accent base model
with one of those humongous spindly spoilers on the boot. Looked like a fecking ironing board. The car was vomit green & the spoiler was cyan blue. Quality!!

Moff I think you misunderstood our point:
Gaz was making the point about the 2nd car down in the sporting range trying too hard to pretend to be the top model.
Examples are m-sport kitted up BMWs, S-line Audi's the Civic Type S and so on and so forth.
My point was about the bog basic end of the model range - 316/318s, 2.0 A4s, etc, etc. I have no problem with people buying middle of the range cars such as a 325i (if they still do one), etc, etc.

A lot of people on their high horse on here!
We are Car Supremacists.
Average white man needs someone to hate in our life.
Love it.

That's like putting a 'Type-R' badge on your Honda Izy.
Totally different from your 'Golf Driver'.
Most people don't seem to quite understand this thread:
To a certain extent, 320SLs are better than 600SLs, because the sheer weight buggers up the ride/handling in the latter case. The cheaper could be the better choice.
Ditto the lower-spec MX-5s.
It's not about the merits of a 316 over a Mondeo ST for the same money.
It's about the sporty-pretentious versions; wasting
