BMW always produce stunning engines in the M cars and the lump in the M3 is amazing, I'm pretty impressed with the E46 engine, but the V8 is something else

The reviews I've read said the new DSG was superb.

I love the look of the Edition Mike - go for it

Mate said he sold it purely because the DSG was so bad, and bought an RS4 (which was then taken from him forcibly with a baseball bat!)

Porblem seems to be that when flooring it from a junction or roundabout, quite often nothing happens. A tweak to the software did nothing either.

Not an isolated incident it seems.

I think I would enjoy DSG for all of 2,000 miles and then be fed up of it. Plus as I'm getting an M3 for it's opposite lockery i don't want any paddles getting in the way!

Strangley servicing for the DSG is significantly cheaper than the manual! Go figure.

TC seemed very well judged. Allowed quite a lot of slip, and squirm before cutting in. Noticed it cutting in though in 3rd gear on a straight road though. Wasn't wet either. Never been in anything that has felt so grenade like.

I'd love a CSL, the paddles suit it

The 997 S is a better drive than the new m3 imo, have you tried that yet?

The SMGII suits the CSL on track but not so much on the road.

And it's not the most reliable of boxes.

But the new DCT (ie BMW's 2 clutch system) is a completely new system.

People love the PDK system, but I hated it in the Cayman.
