Default M3

Or would A3 be better?

I could drop back onto the A303 then.

I hate the M3, a really annoying, dull motorway, and the only interesting bit (around Winchester) is always too busy to enjoy.

A good friend lives in Southampton, and the M40/A404/M4/A34 is a much nicer way to get there, although the A34 is currently being SPECced for roadworks, so that's no good any more.

For real fun, the A3/A272 is quite enjoyable.

Or, if you're heading further west, the A30/303 is fun til stonhenge, or take the "old A30" direct to Salisbury...

I suspect Mr Graves starting another "M3" thread has no relation to roads.

However, I humour him with a reply, if you're coming off the M25 and heading south, there are lots of avergae speed roadworks going on, which on a Friday will be rubbish.

A3M would be my choice, although its achilles heel is Hindhead. Rumour has it they will be sorting this on the next incarnation however.

Thanks for the replies! As an M3 owner, I think people ought to get out of the fast lane quicker. But then I own all the roads.

I much prefer the run out over the Hog's Back, personally.
