When you work at Stalag McLaren, there's no way a driver can have a bit of extra curricular.
If he was a true sport, he'd do the triathlon (note spelling)
if he isn't allowed and must be in bed by 8 o'clock that day, he should make the charitable donation. Doing what he did just comes across as mean spirited and when his old man laughs about binning a Porsche, the least he could do is cough up some dosh and come out of this with some dignity intact!
Lewis's old man (and the way he talks about "us" and "we", when what he means is "my son" or "Lewis") is one of the reasons I find it hard to like him - he'll go down as the biggest hanger on in sporting history. Can you imagine Mick Jagger's dad going along to every gig?

I provided one example of where arrogance is acceptable, because the results (not undoubted ability) back it up
That example was Daley Thompson
A different example, but maybe a useful role model, would be Rafa Nadal
Modest, polite, humble, despite towering achievements in his sport
And he is 22

Funny you mention Nadal Pete as I was thinking pretty much the same after watching his tv interviews at Wimbledon.
Very genial guy indeed, massively talented and very personable. I wonder what the Spansih press are like with their sporting greats ?
