997 GT2 RS does. It's a 911 that does 200mph

No, it wasn't a GT2 RS involved, hence my point

Ron,

How many 8yr olds are capable of weighing up the dangers of crossing a road accurately?

Just being objective.

That's why there should have been a parent with them IMO. And/or they should have been taught how to cross a road safely, like I was. My parents, and my school took the time to teach me the dangers of crossing a road.

Do they still teach the green cross code any more in school?

Ahh, but most of us are into cars so if we quote a car it usually will be more specific than "997" if it was a Turbo, GT2RS etc - I own a 993RS so I would be specific when it comes to Porsche

Especially a road with a high speed limit.... I would be afraid for my children crossing a road where cars can travel at 60MPH - I would be afraid myself crossing such a road

Again, I agree. But in a sensationalised report, it matters very little.

Like Jamie says, begs the question on where the parents were.

It may sound harsh, but accidents are hardly ever down to one thing.

If he's been doing the speed limit when the incident happened, would the driver have still been charged?

Speed was a contributing factor (we have to believe that has been checked out) therefore the driver has exceeded the legal limit designated for that stretch of road, and caused a death. If the speed limit was clear, you as the driver know the score. Whilst you cannot allow for someone stepping into the road right in front of you at 30 mph, you would be doing the speed limit, and cest la vie. You break the limit and you're in dodgy territory regardless. The circumstances of the car not being his and being witnessed driving like a tool compounds it.

Regardless of circumstance (age / stolen car etc) a speeding driver has caused a death.

You can take certain variables away and this wouldn't have happened, or the implications would have been less for both parties.

there were two children crossing the road if you read the story.

and just because it is a nsl bit of road doesnt mean that its appropriate to do 60mph.

unless you know the area/bit of road/circumstances..etc. you cant really make up excuses for a 30 year old man who killed a child in a car. AND HE PLEADED GUILTY !!!!!!!

Of course he did!

If he'd have fought it, he'd have lost on the basis of Stereotyping. Jury's are fickle, and what are the chances you are going to get someone who can switch off emotions to make an informed decision. Pretty much zero.

So if he pleads guilty early, he gets a third of his sentence.

Remember, it's not about what you can prove, it's about what the Jury will believe
