I owned the 270 CDI auto for a few months and had a few problems, enough to sell it on.
Good to drive, plush enough inside, very comfy and good on juice, it was a 02 plate. I'd have another, but only if it was newer and came with a main dealer warranty
Prefered Merc's to BMW, for that sort of car

One of the chaps I race with took me out for a spin in his 535d M-Sport Touring this weekend.
An M car it ain't, a very comfy, lazy, grunty mile muncher it is.
I'm not sure a 3 would do the business now.

How about a Passat W8 estate? This is cheap and almost disposable!

This is still on the back burner but it's not gone away.
Towing the BMW race car recently was very different to towing the Caterham and has put me off the 3 series. It's too small so I'm back on the 5 series.
The lack of rear vision even had me reluctantly considering an X5 but chat with my brother put an end to that one. He's had them at work and when they asked them to do more than carry shopping and a pushchair the rear suspension went to shit and started destroying rear tyres.
Not so the 5 series which is odd as they have similar suspension, presumably it's because the X5 is on stilts.
Anyway, the model I'm really warming to is the 535d - it gets worse - M Sport
I've seen a couple of 550is with every option known to man for quite reasonable money but I just mustn't go there
The trouble is I don't want to run a 535d out of warranty (a few years old is OK) but I don't want to pay top money for one.
What's the consensus on some used bargains appearing when the new model comes out?
Does this still happen in Beemerland or am I dreaming?
