I love the C6 too. A guy round here has one identical to the one in the pic. If I see him at the petrol station I must ask him for a passenger ride in it. I think he's a bit big for me to return the compliment in the Elise though.

I'm not comparing onions-with-onions regarding the C6 and the F355 - they're two different types of car, each with a very different appeal.

The difficulty is deciding which type of car I really want and which will be the better one to live with once the honeymoon is over. If I'm true to form, whichever I decide to try an go for, I'll wish I had the other one!

well you won't be able to drive a 355 every day (for long, if it you want it to keep running and be worth anything)

so that's your first decision

Oops, it was the Z06 I was thinking of, not the C6.

I did test drive one and liked it, but it was a bit like a boat and I'm surprised you say the steering is similar to the S - it's a while since I've driven an S but I don't remember the steering being quite as vague as the C6 !

I did like it though, I loved being so low down, and it has bags of power.

I like the Corvette, I like the way it's built using iron girders and spit with a big engine dropped in, it shouldn't be good, but it is.

As it proves yearly at Le Mans.

If you want a 355, I know a very knowledgeable chap who sources them for clients and doesn't charge the earth - certainly worth speaking to as he really knows his onions. He and his brother also race 355s and support several other race cars.

And a tip for Italy, do a day or two in Amalfi, then head south, down the coast roads in the direction of Sapri - same scenery, same roads snaking along the coastline, same wonderful seafood restaurants on the quaysides but no foreign tourists and the roads are deserted if you go after the Italian schools go back.

You will loose at least 50% of your money in a very short few years, if you buy new.
But, get one 3 years old and you are laughing.

Corvettes are simply not shifting at the moment (with all the current world problems etc) so there are real bargains to be had on the second hand market.

From what you were saying about the steering and the brakes I'd assume you were talking about the Z06 version ??? There are a few ways to tell.
A little "Z06" emblem on the wing is the easiest way

I agree with Rich, the Z06 model is the way forward.

The Z06 would be the tool, but the targa panel is bonded-in for rigidity and I want an open-ish car.

The C6 I drove was 2008 MY 'standard' coup

I was exactly the same.

I wanted an open top so went for the standard C5 opposed to the Z06.
As it turns out I didn't take the lid off that much
And like yourself I wanted a lazy warp speed ride, which was suited nicely to the automatic. ( Again not available on the Z06 ... why would you lol )
