Imports
Has anyone some idea of how much less an import car should be sold for in percentage terms? My friend is emmigrating and he has a X reg (2000 or 2001) Golf TDI he is going to have to sell. He bought it in Luxembourg when he lived over there from new but since moved back to England and few years ago, you would not know it's an import, it's right hand drive etc. I may make him an offer but as it's an import I would not know how much it's worth other then looking at current market value and making a decuction due to it being an import ( If that matters ?).
thanks

basic rule of thumb is the older the import, the less the differential
all based on the car being imported from new and therefore having all the right documentation and history, in English (I think it's a bit different if you import something that has spent the majority of its life abroad)
assuming the above is present, I don't think the Golf would differ in price from a UK car at all
