Just remember that if you get someone else to do the check and then something later comes to light e.g. finance, write off, stolen, you will lose the car - this does happen as HPI and Experian rely on the finance, insurance and Police to get the data to them in time.

Good tip - goto www.parkers.co.uk and you will get a full check for

Didn't know that about Parker's moff. Too late now (I did an Experian one in the end), but will know for next time.

If buying from a dealer, is there not some sort of buyer protection?

Experian is way better than HPi IMO, you can get things removed off HPi's data/history but no way can you touch Experian.
