Apparently you can hire a new car from Renault on a short lease cheaper than a regular hire car. The Aussies are queuing up for this option. But it only applies if you are non EU and non tax resident. Sounds like one more reason to quit the EU - along with that scam that we have to contribute to the eurozone bailout of Greece: isn't it enough that so many of us go there on holiday ffs?

edit: I think the sales tax element (VAT) can be finessed. Presumably Renault sell on as second hand 20% less and finish up ahead of the game. Punters who buy them used do just that - take a punt. This may be similar to the saving to be had in this country buying a 3-month old demonstrator for a discount.
