I would suggest looking at a CBR as well.

Was (semi)kidding, but if you fancy it, lemme know.

Getting mixed messages about whether an R6 may be a bit too much for a beginner though.
I cant see that it would be any different to any of the other 600cc sports bikes

At least its something that will keep your interest for a while

Should I get more of a tourer? Or a sports (eg Fazer) rather than the supersports (R6, CBR).

Kay...where are you? How are you gettig on with the CBR?

The R6 at Poole Motorcycles has recently had it's first MOT, 2 owners, 5K miles. On for

San ,

I dont think an R6 will be any more difficult to ride than the others , it will be more capable , but maybe a tad less forgiving .

Honda sports bikes have historically been known to be easier to ride and more forgiving .

You can ride like a pratt and come to harm on a Honda 90 , its how you apply the power that determines what trouble you can get in , give it a couple of days anyway

Be careful about the gear , there is some real crap about and you dont often even get what you pay for.

Think hard about what kit you want ,

Leathers , one piece or 2 piece ( 2 piece must zip togethor all the way around )

Cordura gear ?

the choices are endless , just have to decide whats best for your use .

I go with 2 piece leathers as you can at least drop the jacket when you arriive somewhere , i have a one piece waterproof suit but it has to be lashing down for me to stop.

Buy decent gloves , cheap ones will not last .

Dont be pressed into buying winter gloves unless you plan on regular long commutes throughout winter

I have a mental block with any " Frank Thomas " kit .

I particularly like Sidi vertebrae boots

I have found Alpinestar gloves to be great this summer , ( but they do come up small )

I have a Dainese suit , got a couple of dodgy colours , but it was purchased new for

Everyone will have a strong opinion on bikes and kit , hopefully it will be based on first hand knowledge rather that what you read in the mags .

Go with what feels comfortable and suits the spendy you have available.

Now is a very good time to be buying kit though.

Can you wait a month or so untill the bike show at the NEC ? see ALL of the gear under one roof and bargain like hell with them .

Unless you are 20 stone and 6' 4 , i am sure we could come up with some suitable kit between us , for you to borrow in the meantime
