You should have been an accountant ......... or a Jock

I bought a new bike the day after I passed my test
I bought mine 2 weeks after passing my test (and that was January when it was cold and the roads were covered in muck) - I was afraid I'd lose what I'd learned if I didn't get on a bike asap.

The old biddies and buffties in Austin Metros who kept overtaking me all the way from Perth to Aberfeldy and back to Edinburgh probably didn't think I'd learnt much though

There's the theory that if you do your learning in the winter when the weather is $hite/roads slippy, it makes you a better rider when you get to the summer and you don't think you're invincible on a bright sunny sunday morning in April just after you've squeezed yourself into your power ranger gear for the first time in 6 months.

On the other hand, you might like me spend months excessively tiptoeing about because of the reduced grip and being terrified of dropping the bike, and then not be able to go around corners properly when it gets warm and dry again.

You still get dry days in the winter though, and so I think you should continue riding through the winter to get used to all potential types of road conditions. It's only rainy days (as opposed to wet roads) I haven't ridden in yet.

You have to have faith in your tyres, as someone recently said to me. Or you just won't go round corners more than 10mph.

Forgot to add - tomorrow's race should be an absolute blinder.

First time in a long time that the championship has come down to the last race of the season.
