i remember Harris telling the story of how someone tried to nick his bike in broad daylight in front of tons of witnesses, somewhere like covent garden. It seems rife down there and there is one way to deal with it but the law aint on our side atm

this guy should have been given an award imho, instead he gets jail

we never have any trouble here (touch wood), bikes are in the garage with cloud CCTV, had bikes in there since it was built and never any probs

Got some new detailing gear for mine - will be having a tinker over the next few days but early signs are good - got the black plastics coming up a treat!

detailing? .. I have new carb jets by comparison

Never been a fan of carbs but i will perservere. Trying to figure out which is the correct size by internet trawling, reading the JD Jetting stuff and listening to how it runs / pulling the plug is.. well.. tedious and covers my hands in a petrol smell i can't shift (gloves next time)

Still trying to make the 450x into a 450L essentially (without the power restrictions of anyone caring about emissions)

i need to figure if i can power the headlight off the AC - the bike produces both AC and DC power off the stator, it is apparently 40W AC / 20W DC and hence the headlight on drains battery (used for headlight and tail light plus speedo) which is ok for short hops but not ideal for anything else

so..

rewire
carbs
valve clearances
bodywork

none of which bar the last should cost much and it stands me for just over £3k with new wheels and tyres currently so about the money of a CRF250L but with the power of the uncorked 450L

I bet it will be the carbs that take most of your time

Why even bother wiring it in .... how long does it need to run for? Just carry a spare battery if you intend to go further than an hour?

They are mystical to me (carbs)

Why wiring.. like your project car because it keeps me busy and fiddling. The SC car doesn't need much at the minute bar a good blast and raising the ride height and my XSR has had its only real issue, rusty swingarm, sorted permanently. I hope.

I found a much more powerful stator option but that says you have to leave the headlight on all the time (or it will presumably **** your battery?)

I did ponder finding an LED bulb for the headlight as an alternative.

My gut is that I will be commuting come autumn and that is what this is for, shitty weather traffic avoidance

In that case i'd want something that runs through a projector, probably a 35WHID to get a decent output. I'd deffo not want some chitty fake LED in a reflector unit - candle power is for those loons doing the Brighton run on motorised carts.

My temptation would be either to mod a CRF headlight and retro fit a projector in there .... or fit two of those things you see on cafe racer things, the ones that adventure bikes use as 'aux' lights and have one for dipped with an HID in and one for main with a filament lamp in it.

Nice..zoomed out on my phone it looks dented!

Mine is Matt so you don't really polish

Spent an hour upgrading the cable to my outside socket. Even though it would take 19A I found some 2.5m2 stuff used for ponds which is good for weather exposure. Good for charging the e and the S2 trickle haha
might tax the XS next month if things continue to look up

Get it taxed - perfect riding weather. Did my lid with the same stuff as the bike ... 60 miles and zero flies stuck to either.
