Subframe bolts?

That looks a bastad. Insured my yam yesterday as it was only £85. Not that I have used it. I think once since March.

4 inch long / half inch wide tube from a telescopic Erbauer tool. Yeah subframe bolts are loose so the rear end is wobbly, you can lift it up and down 2 to 3 cm. it's a 'thing' apparently - dunno if not enough factory threadlock or just pish quality threads / bolts. It's loose not off so hopefully better bolts / helicoil and it will be nipped back up tight. I thought i'd felt something a bit 'off' over the last couple of rides.Squirelly i'd call it.,

Threadlock had come away from the subframe bolts and they'd loosened - got away with them being cleaned up and new threadlock applied. New rear tyre on and now scrubbed in. Also need to fit new rear brake pads, chain and sprocket kit later in the year. Most importantly, a new Sargent seat. Vast improvement - no more comfy than the ones i had at the start but after 45 minutes i don't hate my life and can continue for another hour after that in relative comfort. Not walking like John Wayne this morning either so all good. Good job really as if that hadn't worked i'd have to sell and eat cake, join my local IAM and buy an adventure bike - i'm not ready to hate riding that much / become that miserable just yet.

Is the subframe bolt thing a known issue?

I quite like the Temere but these half ton Goliath's aren't for me either. Africa twin is a monster

Did you get to the first corner / do the first gear change and have a bit of a moment and then settled into it

The subframe bolt thing seems to be an issue when topboxes have been added - the ones that hang out over the back ( not me) and it causes vibrations that can work things loose. I found plenty of examples on the interweb of other Z1000SX with the same issue. Not all were as fortunate - some snapped completely as they weren't caught in time.

First ride of the year at the weekend - only a small 50mile loop but lovely and with fresh fork oil and better fork springs, a much nicer ride than the last one of 2020.

Weather changed so fast

Often snows in March though, will decide whether the XSR goes back on the road this year at some point but maybe not soon

The CRF I have decided to do some work on, I wanna sort fueling as it idles crap and pops on overrun and cosmetics, which is more out of a desire to style the bike a bit differently. I reckon I will be commuting again next winter so there is your target

Am tempted by the new CRF300L. The 450L was big bucks for a dual sport and sold accordingly (ie didn't). Also pondering building a loom for the CRF after watching a few vids. I got it working last year (it's only headlights, brake lights, an ignition using kill switch to prevent kick start)

I lock it too but never had an issue here (touch wood)

My mates fartblood got nicked the only time he didn't lock it from outside his doctor's surgery (London)

Safe enough here but we're barely in the burbs with a long drive - anyone sauntering down here for a looksee is going to stand right out. Cameras galore and a grumpy fecker here full time.
