'If rumors are true, Honda is finally set to debut its long-awaited V4 production superbike, now-called the Honda RC213V-S, at next week’s EICMA show.

Not exactly a direct replacement for the Honda CBR1000RR, the RC213V-S is instead expected to be an ultra-premium superbike, which may or may not be the basis for the Japanese company’s WSBK entry in 2015.'

Fantastic news mate on gaining your full licence!

Now just got to find yourself a bike :-)

If you do end up px'ing your 125 drive a hard bargain as they are in demand

CB500 great fun bike. Get some decent tyres on it and get on a trackday once you get used to it. Mallory Park will be ideal and I'll look after you. Will teach you a lot about bike control.

I know I sound biased, but go for a CB600 instead. You get a revvy four instead of a parallel twin.

And give it a few months before your trackday. You need to find your feet properly and practice some skills - mainly throttle control.

Sort of? Noise?

Hmm, been looking at GSX-R 750s now. I don't like the look of them but they are a stonking bike. Neeves from MCN did 10k miles in 7 months on one and loved it with his only criticism being brake pads and if he was really picky, he'd go for a race spec rear shock and fork internals to sharpen it up on track. They say that the Panigale 899 just pips it, but that's a Ducati and I know how expensive it is to run (They do look amazing though!).

I need to go and test ride one. It doesn't sound a nice as the Daytona 675 I tested but I think it might be the better bike for me.

Throttle control I'm happy enough with - no way you can pass Mod 1 unless you have that sorted BUT .... and it's a big one, my first bike needs to be similar to my first car, not too fast, not too shiny and not too tricky to operate. No ABS, no silly electrics, just a basic boggo bike with decent tyres and old fashioned oily bits. I may only end up keeping it a few months but like owning the 125 for 15 months, it's a stage / process that I want to go through. Plenty of time to grow into faster and more expensive things.

This has just cost me £850 ( comes with 12 months MOT and a full service ) and the insurance comes in at £20 cheaper than the YBR125 ( that was £158 to insure). Replacement parts are all over ebay for pennies if i bend something and there's no pretty plastics to worry about if i scrape something. If i chose to, i could make it showroom pretty for about another £100. As it stands, i'll give it a wash and just use it.

Went out and started the little Yamaha, rode it around the garage block, turned it around on a sixpence, laughed and put it back in the garage.

Ratty - no track days for me for now but it does come with Bridgestone BT45 on the front and back - pretty good all round tyre i think.

Rear brake light and horn, neither worked.

I was given a pass certificate but the bike is back in at the bike shop today getting the switch for the brake light replaced, the horn I can easily do myself, though I have never used a horn on a bike.
