Been thinking. Can't the Beemer garage work out what the bolts were torqued up to? If you progressively increase the setting on the torque wrench i.e start at 60Nm where the wrench should "click" to indicate that at least that much torque was applied to it - by say 2 or 3Nm each time, you'll establish fairly accurately what torque has been applied by the numpty fitter.
There must be a risk that either the wheel - most probably - or the hubcarrier - possible but I think less likely - has been damaged by overtightening the bolts.
Will you need an independent inspection? Won't the BMW dealer be regarded as sufficiently expert in the event you want to recover the cost from the independent? I wouldn't take it back to him based on his performance to date.

I would quite happily rely on the beemer dealer's advice, but I am unsure how it "would stand up in court" so to speak.
Could the independent not argue they were partial given that they stand to gain from additional work and new wheel, carrier etc? Do you think I would need to give the fitter a chance to rectify it, or would small claims court see it the way we do and that not reasonable to take it back?
I think there must be a point where it's unreasonable to ask you to let the numpty have the opportunity of putting his wrong right - and I would have thought you had passed that point now that the BMW dealer has established that the bolts were clearly overtightened.
I take you point about impartiality but would have thought the issue here is whether the dealer is sufficiently expert to say that the bolts were overtightened, not whether they had an interest in supplying you with various new bits.

He's a talented lad, at 1'35 ish it gets a bit squirly under braking.
I would crash once doing a lap like that, probably a few mins in at best...
EDIT trying to do a lap like that. And i'd still be slower. And dead.

Any tips on flogging a bike?
I have my cbr listed on pistonheads and ebay, had a few offers on ebay but it seems a dead market. Mines the cheapest, lowest mileage around and still not selling.
wtf?

I think the market isn't great just now with the poor weather.
Was speaking to my BMW dealer today and he was noting this for the market in general, although the dark side were doing OK due to the focus on tourers and adventure stuff which is not affected as much.

Yep, i figured this was playing a part. At this rate i'll end up sticking with it till next "summer". At least they dont depreciate much.
I've been actively trying to use it to run to the station but its rained most days

First ride in 2 years today. Not very exciting - motorway most of the way.
Good to feel as though it was only yesterday I'd been on it though.
Please let the weather get better!!
