Now that Spring is here this thread needs a bump.

I got my insurance renewal through in December - another year's NCB free from convictions and my premium for 4 bikes fully comp goes from £205 to £446.

Having checked that it wasn't a typo and that they weren't having a laugh I found out that NIG had withdrawn from the market and Allianz, the new BMW scheme insurer, had put the rates up.

Shopping around - Carole Nash etc. - produced only higher quotes.

The main driver on the premium was the S1000RR as the highest rated bike.

I fancied a change and part ex'ed the S1000 and my 6 year old K1200S for this:



a new K1300S HP. Picked it up from Cotswold yesterday and rode it to Daventry to have Venture Shield fitted - a protective film which protects against stone chips very effectively - and then back home. 155 miles of nice riding.

This will be doing some trips to the Continent this year.

Who else has been out on their bike so far?

Did bugger all miles last year working in the smoke, now the mrs is not keen on it as we've a nipper on the way
