This thread needs a bump. The weather has been so great i've been out on loads of ride outs. Did Bristol to Weymouth yesterday and had a fab ride, my friend on his R6 and me on the Blade, met up with a ZX6 on the way home up the A38.. Weymouth was packed with bikes it was like a mini meet. Long may the sun shine. I really must get out in the S..

I have a question guys.
I'll be back in the summer, and the Gixxer will have been sat on its arse doing nothing for a year.
I think someone told me that the fuel tank will need to be drained, but will I be able to ride out to the garage for a service, or will I need to have it trailered there?

See if you can get someone to start it and run the tank dry. Today's unleaded can leave nasty deposits. Otherwise jsut fill it with fresh fuel when you get back. Should be OK.

So who watched yesterday's French Moto GP?
Rossi on the podium and most importantly beating Pedrosa.
My prediction for the rest of the season - watch the Yamaha become steadily less competitive as they feel the effect of the absence of Rossi's and Burgess' ability to diagnose what to do to make the bike go better -
and the flip side - watch the Ducati become steadily more competitive for the same reasons.

Yep, very impressive ride by Rossi on the rodeo bike.
Not sure what I think of Simoncelli's move. Can't help but think he was at fault though.
Good race again.

Got a question for you bikers.
1000rr blade O4.
When I'm in gear and I come off/on the power hard there feels like a bit if slack in the transmission and it clunks as if the chain is slack. Chain/sprockets seem fine, well lubed and adjusted and I've just replaced the cush drive. While the wheel was off we checked the bearings and they appeared fine too.
Is thus a characteristic of this bike or does it sound like something else to you?
Bikes only done 10,000 miles.

Depending on how much slack, I'd say it's normal.
You've driven everything in the transmission system one way with the engine, then (in simple terms) you've pulled everything back the other way with the rear wheel.
Does that make sense?

Hi dan. Yes that makes perfect sense. I've just nipped the chain up a bit more about an inch of play maybe less. I'm only comparing it to my old cbr600f as that was silky smooth. It just doesn't feel as smooth as I think it should be.
Dazza I think they did a few modifications to the 06 including transmission ratios etc do although it's the same bike I think there's a few subtle improvements.
I'd like to try another to see how mine compares.

I've ridden an 08 Blade. Gear changes were clunky, but never noticed any slack.
Can't speak for earlier bikes though.
Difficult to know without feeling the slack.
