Rob, I would worry too much, maybe just do an oil and filter change and be done with it
Sounds good to me.

The bike is absolutely spotless as new or better! So I guess that is more important then another stamp in the book.

Just out of interest, how much would you say a service would have been?

Cheers

Just read my quoted bit, I meant wouldn't

Oil & filter change £80 maybe.

Little service no more than £150 at a guess.

Guys. Im in need of some new leathers and am after a nice 2 piece set. I don't want to spend a fortune on them (Maybe £500 tops) but have been searching and searching with not much luck. Im after a 2 piece as I'd like to get a few track days in this year and my current leathers only zip at the rear and are getting old. Im not a fan of 1 piece leathers. I understand they are designed with protection in mind and are ideal for track use and If I could afford both I would, but I can't. Basically Im after a few decent places to look in the south east or online.

Cheers
Give these a try

I got some well needed miles under my belt today in a generally fun and entertaining time!

I wasn't sure how far I was going to go or exactly where either!

Anyway I headed towards North Wales, but took an early wrong turn somewhere near home and ended up back in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Heading towards traffic lights I managed to stall the bike and it wouldn't restart

I parked up, let the bike stand and retried but got the machine gun of the starter rolling but not enough power to turn the motor over. Wondering what to do I knew there was a Hein Gericke about 0.5 miles away so walked there and they didn't sell batteries (I suspected this was at fault). They suggested I go across the road to DK motorcycles (a big local dealer) and they sold me a battery, but suggested this might not be the problem.

I walked back to the bike with the battery, now melting in my leathers

Luckily I'd got some tools and switched the batteries over and fortunately it fired up without a problem

I saw a Ferrari California walking back, rooof down, in a strange dark grey/browny colour. Sounded good in any case.

I decided to risk onward journey and took the A525 heading for the A51. Unfortunately there was an overturned car in a residential area in a 30 zone in a village called Madeley I turned round and headed on an alternative route. A531 then A51 than back to the A525 to Wales.

I saw a Gullwing Merc that looked stunning heading in the opposite direction.

Next on to Whitchurch then via Ruabon to Llangollen on the A5 then to Bala via the A494.

I stopped for coffee at the Caffi'r Cyfnod in Bala.

They claim on their menu they are famous through Wales! Nice coffee and cake though.

I next took the A494 down the west coast of Bala Lake and at the bottom double backed up the east coast on the B4403

Next was the journey back home. I stuck to B roads as much as possible. Next was the B4391 from the B4403 from Bala known as the Berwyn High Pass Road.

Not my photo but:
Dropping in to Llangynog

Next B4396, little A495 then back to the B4396 through Knockin

Could have done with a massage by this point, but doubt they'd have obliged.

Then B4397, A528, A495 and back to the A525 at Whitchurch then home!
Also saw a dark coloured, top down Ferrari 456 on the A525 and a couple of Audi R8s at various points. Not a single S2000 to be seen

Lots of nods from fellow motorbikers, sore wrists and home safe after about 200 miles

San

You should. You'll find nice quiet roads anywhere between Brecon in the South and Bala in the North so long as you are West of the A49 between Hereford and Shrewsbury.

Here's some photos to wet your appetite:

This was taken a 3 weeks ago on the B4391 referred to in JMP's post:

This is the same spot last year looking down the valley to Llangynog:

and the same spot the year before:

You can tell I like Beemers and my mate Kyle likes Suzukis!

This is the road from Llandovery to Tregaron over the top by Llyn Brianne before it joins the B4358:

Virtually the same spot this year:

Further up that road on the way to Tregaron:

Around the Elan Valley lakes:

At the top of the Lakes:

Same place but looking down the Mountain Road to Aberystwyth:

By the nant y Moch reservoir North of the A44 near Ponterwyd:

I must go to Wales sometime - great looking roads.

Johnathan, are reg/recs an issue with CBRs? It is with VFRs and at least one other Honda ISTR.

Might be worth checking in case it is not just the battery.

When I bought the battery the guys at the shop certainly said it could be the reg/rec as apparently they are a CBR problem too.

I really didn't treat the battery well over the winter though, but it was odd that it seemed fine when I set off and then had problems after only a few miles.

The service people suggested if the headlight intensity increases after revving the bike then it is probably charging the battery ok which is what happens when I do rev it opposite the garage wall.

I'll wait and see what happens.
