Nice picture cheggers,

I also had a gsxr600 but a k1 which looks decidedly fat now a days compared to newer versions.

Like the R1 shame you killed it, i had a day on one as well as a gsxr 1000 over in france , both totally mental machines.

Has any one owned a 2000/ 2001 R1, the last of the carbed bikes?

Looking at one at the moment and just wondered if you had any niggles or know of anything that needs close attention when looking to buy?

Thanks
Pip had one.

or ask here. . . .

I had the 4XV which was the first model of the R1. I think the 2000 model is the 5JJ or something.
Didn't have too many problems apart from the EXUP valve breaking which is quite common apparently. I managed to warp my brake disks too *shrug*
Engine is pretty much bullet proof though from what I can tell.

Saw this in the flesh for the first time today at Cotswold BMW:

It was in the Motorrad red white and blue colours and is the one which all the dealers will have on show from Saturday morning onwards.

They were prepping the bike ready for it to be displayed from Saturday onwards.

I had to overcome an immediate urge to get my credit card out and put down a deposit. I might yet still succumb

The production bike has a few but only detail differences from this photo.

The good news is that the road tests say it's a great bike. Check these out:
