fairings are over rated anyway

Bummer.

You learning curve is fine .......... same sort of thing happened to me on my first bike. I learned from my mistake and it has never happened since.

i guess i'll start from scratch again and see how things go. gutted at the minute, all this crap weather meant i hadnt ridden it for 2 weeks, now it'll be another four

At least you didn't hurt yourself, that is the most important thing.

Plastic can be fixed.

Bad luck.

Target fixation, counter-steering and keeping relaxed are the three big things I always recommend beginners to work on.

Re target fixation a friend tells the story of how he once went skiing with someone on a wide-open piste that was completely empty except for a large rock in the middle - you can guess what happened... it's very easily done.

Hope you get it fixed soon...

cheers guys. yep, classic target fixation. i need to sort that out. terwat. i dont think it would have happened if the weather had not been so shite recently. i've been consciously trying to just get some miles under my belt, trying to get into a rythm.. balls. no bike for 4 weeks and god knows what the insurers will want to do to me next year

Yep, it's only a bike (didn't stop me getting all upset after causing a crack in part of the fairing after dropping mine in the garage...).

Glad you are ok and impressed with the mileage you've clocked - I've clocked just over 2000 miles now....in two years and one month
