need some help from somone who knows more about engines than me (which i guess is just about everyone who posts on this thread )
on way home last night clutch went, manged to limp home the last 3/4 mile with the aid of a hill and not having to come to a complete stop
checked the bike - the clutch cable is still connected to the lever thingy on the side of the engine, and connected to the lever on the handlebars
however the lever thingy ont he side of the engine seems a bit loose and you can actually pull it out until it is stopped by the fairing.
now i dont know how this lever thingy connects to the clutch but imagine its broken and needs replacing or is it the whole clutch?
bike is a 51 plate with about 13000 miles, at least 5000 of which are communiting within london so maybe worth getting clutch replaced anyway??
thanks in advance gents

From the post, I can't make out exactly what you mean
It could be just that the clutch cable has snapped.
Or are you saying the lever the cable attaches to (non handlebar one) is loose?
Pics may help description

engines and me - not on 1st name terms
the lever (which consists of the connection to the clutch caple which is itself set into a cone shaped piece of metal that runs into the engine) is loose and could be removed from its housing on the side of the engine
if you look at PL's cbr on page 134 you can see the cone shaped housing in which the lever mechanism (armco?) sits. if i removed the fairing i could pull it out.
my guess is that this lever connects to the clutch in some way and its this connection that is knackered
hth
cable is not snapped for sure

sounds like the actuator fork has broken? i would imagine to replace that they'll need to take the box off so maybe may as well fit a new friction plate?
